George Neal Unit 4

George Neal Energy Center Unit 4 is a 644 MW coal-fueled electric generating facility located south of Sioux City, Iowa. NIMECA members Algona, Spencer, Bancroft, Coon Rapids, Laurens, Milford, Grundy Center and Graettinger own a total of 41 MW of the plant and commit their shares to the NIMECA capacity sharing resource pool. NIMECA member Webster City owns 17 MW of the plant and leases their share to Corn Belt Power Cooperative. The plant, which came online in 1979, is majority owned and operated by MidAmerican Energy.
